A Cherokee County family with two young girls has a neighbor to thank for rescuing their pets during a house fire early Thursday morning. An alert neighbor kicked in the door, said Tim Cavender, public information officer for Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services. “A neighbor checked to see if anybody was at home,” he said. “Nobody came out of the house except the pets.”
